How do I become
a volunteer? TOP

It’s easy! Just fill out our online form and submit it or
call us at 802-345-4041 or email us at programs@vermontadaptive.org.
We’ll talk to you about your interests and together we can
decide where the best fit lies. 2004-2005 Adaptive Snow Sports Volunteers
should visit the Volunteer Training and Seasonal Schedule section
of this site for clinic schedules and forms.
Are there any specific
qualifications I will need? TOP

There are minimal requirements for adaptive ski volunteers, see
the section of the site). If you have any particular areas of interest
or skills, we can certainly use them. We have seasonal training
schedules for all of our programs and continue to do “on the
job” training throughout each season. Come with an open mind
and an open heart.
Am I required to work a certain number of
hours per week? TOP

What sort of training
will I receive? TOP

Volunteer positions vary in length and responsibility. Volunteers
who work directly with program participants are provided training
in adaptive sports, adaptive equipment, disability awareness and
the mission and vision of Vermont Adaptive.
I don’t have any experience working
with people with disabilities, can I still volunteer? TOP
OF PAGE
YES! YES! YES! More than anything else we are looking for people
who believe in the mission of our organization and the purpose of
our programs - focusing on abilities, not disabilities. Vermont
Adaptive Ski & Sports believes that recreation provides a physical,
mental, and social experience that is immeasurable in promoting
self-confidence and independence in an individual.
What kind of volunteer opportunities are
available? TOP

Spring: Horseback riding, indoor rock
climbing, special events and administrative duties.
Summer: Sailing, canoeing, kayaking,
hiking, tandem biking, indoor rock climbing, horseback riding, special
events and administrative duties (see also seasonal opportunities).
Fall: Horseback riding, canoeing,
rock climbing, special events and administrative duties.
Winter: Alpine skiing, snowboarding,
nordic skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, rock climbing, ski office,
special events and administrative duties (see also seasonal opportunities).
Is there an age requirement?

We have volunteers that have celebrated their 80th + birthdays and
some that have yet to celebrate their 12th. It all depends on what
program you’re interested in volunteering for. Check out our
