Other Activities - HORSEBACK RIDING
At MoonRise Farm in Taftsville, Vermont Adaptive Ski
and Sports offers a therapeutic riding program which partners horses
and young people with a Therapeutic Riding instructor to achieve
goals established by the students themselves, parents, teachers,
counselors or other care givers. Located on 45 acres in the historic
district of Taftsville, Vermont, MoonRise Farm features an c1850
3-story Post and Beam barn, 3-5 therapeutic horses, 7 pastures,
a riding ring and woodland/field trails.
MoonRise Farm therapeutic riding program provides
an opportunity to:

MoonRise Farm therapeutic riding program provides
individual and group lessons for students with physical, emotional,
cognitive, behavioral and learning challenges. All programs are
designed to meet the particular therapeutic and educational needs
of the student.
Student activities may
include: • Grooming and getting to know the
horse they will work with. • Tacking and untacking
the horse. • Groundwork such as leading activities,
round penning and lunging. • Mounted activities: walk,
trot and canter, ground poles, small jumps and games. •
Barn management skills such as feeding the horses and cleaning
the stalls. |

Scheduling and Cost:
Open spring, summer and fall, our program is small and flexible.
Please give us a call and we will work with you to schedule lesson
times. The farm is open Monday through Friday and, although not
set up to do regular programming on Saturdays, we can open for makeup
lessons or special occasions.
Rates:
1. Up to 1 1/2 hour private or semi private lesson $40.00
2. Groups of 3 or more it usually lasts up to 2 hrs $35.00 per person
One of VASS’ goals is that no student
be denied access to a program due to financial constraints.
Scholarships are awarded on a “need” basis.

Cancellation Policy: Please call to cancell with more than 24 hours notice! If you cancell with less than 24 hours notice you will be charged for 50% of your program fee. No call-no show will be charged for full program fee.

Helpful Hints
• Riders should wear long pants and closed toes shoes to riding
lessons. Formal ”riding clothes” are appropriate but
not necessary.
• If lesson is scheduled during or near the lunch hour please
bring a sack lunch or snacks and your own water or drinks. There
are no food concessions on the property.
• Please bring sunscreen, bug spray, hat, sunglasses and any
other personal items you may require for an outdoor activity.
