We Need You This Summer: Volunteer with Vermont Adaptive

Looking for meaningful volunteer opportunities in Vermont this summer? Vermont Adaptive is seeking volunteers to help make adaptive sports and recreation programs possible across the state. Whether you’re interested in cycling, paddling, or supporting participants during outdoor activities, there’s still time to join our volunteer team.

No previous adaptive sports experience is required. We provide volunteer training so you can feel prepared and confident in your role. Volunteers help create welcoming opportunities for people of all abilities to enjoy sports and outdoor recreation.

Earlier today at Dana L. Thompson Memorial Park in Manchester, Volunteer Instructor Jason Rosenthal spent the morning cycling alongside athletes from Burr and Burton Academy. Jason first volunteered with Vermont Adaptive during the winter season and returned this summer because of the connections he made with participants.

“I first joined Vermont Adaptive in the winter to ski, and I thought it would be great to give back to the community, but really, even better than that, after spending the winter, was the connections made with the athletes, which was amazing. So, I decided now to continue on in the summer and bike with them.”

Vermont Adaptive’s statewide programs are powered by volunteers. Whether you can volunteer once a week, a few times each month, or during special events, your time helps expand access to year-round adaptive sports and recreation throughout Vermont.

Volunteer applications are accepted year-round, so there’s no deadline to get started. If you’re looking for a rewarding way to give back, meet new people, and spend time outdoors, we’d love to welcome you to our volunteer community.
