Pico Mountain - Turtle Ridge Adaptive Center
The Turtle Ridge Center at the Andrea Mead Lawrence Lodge is Vermont Adaptive’s headquarters and year-round adaptive facility at Pico Mountain. Opened in 2013 in partnership with the Pico Ski Education Foundation, this 6,000 sq. ft., ADA-compliant facility is designed to support inclusive programming in central/southern Vermont.
Vermont Adaptive occupies the first floor, with accessible access to the second level and main base lodge, ski club, cafeteria, retail spaces, and outdoor deck.




About The Space
- Accessible Layout: Access throughout the building and accessible access for all to the Pico Ski Club and the second level of the main base lodge, cafeteria, retail shops, and deck.
- Participant-Ready Spaces: Large program room with benches to gear up, rest, or gather, a sensory room, and a family room for family and caregivers. The accessible design allows for better program flow, easy fit-up inside the lodge prior to skiing, and private space for participants.
- Volunteer Spaces: Kitchen and table for lunch breaks, space for training, and events.
Accessible Parking & Directions
- Accessible Parking Spaces: Located at the bottom of B-Slope, this lot has designated accessible parking spaces. From here, it’s a short walk or roll to the Andrea Mead Lawrence Lodge.
- Loading/Unloading Spot (Closest Access): A single accessible parking space is located directly in front of our garage, next to the Andrea Mead Lawrence Lodge entrance.
To reach this space:- From the main accessible parking lot area, turn right and follow the road behind the condos.
- Continue until you see the garage and the accessible entrance to our building.

Tom began at Vermont Adaptive as a volunteer at Pico Mountain in 2010, became the Stoughton Pond program coordinator in 2011, then took over as program coordinator for Pico Mountain and Rutland/Killington region in 2012 and has been our Senior Program Coordinator since 2013. Before Vermont Adaptive, Tom worked in the human services industry for over five years and prior to that spent many years in the tourism/hospitality industry. Tom is originally from the Philadelphia area and moved to Vermont in 1993. Tom received his degree in Human Services, is certified in “The Zones of Regulation” — an approach to support emotional/behavioral self-regulation in students. He enjoys free time with his family, alpine touring in the morning, is a well-traveled music enthusiast and gourmet foodie.

Allie joined Vermont Adaptive in October of 2023. Before that, she was a summer program intern at the Pico/Killington location in 2022. From a young age, she has been volunteering with adaptive sports in the East Tennessee and North Carolina region. Born and raised in Knoxville, TN, she graduated in 2020 from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a B.S. in Food Science and a minor in Hospitality and Tourism. Allie gained her Nutritional Therapy Certification from the Nutritional Therapy Association. After college, she moved to Lake Tahoe, CA and became a ski instructor at Palisades Tahoe, Olympic Valley, while rafting on the Truckee River for the summers. After traveling through the Western U.S., Allie made the move to southern Vermont. In her free time she loves spending time outdoors hiking, trail running, skiing, climbing, reading, and going to concerts.
